Immediately started giggling, and said "Oh, ha ha! I thought you were an answering machine!"
Without identifying herself or a her company, asked for the address, and butchered it.
Seriously, homegirl sounded drunk.
"I just havta ask a few...well maybe are...are you in charge of shipping?"
"Do you have the name of the person you'd like to speak to?"
"Um, well, I, um.....no...is...are you...can you do shipping?"
"I'm sorry, but without a name, I can't transfer you."
"Oh....noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, that's okay, I'm just, I think, well, I um..."
I had to hang up. Cold calls shouldn't take this long.
They're yet ANOTHER one of these toner-phoner like scams.
The caller today wasn't drunk,. so I could piece together what was happening.
They ask (rather aggressively) for whoever handles "shippings and mailings"
I asked her if she had a name, and she didn't. So, I started in on my regular "without a name blah, blah, blah..."
She interrupted me, and said, "Well, ma'am, it's about an order someone put in with our company last week."
I'M the one who orders things, so i asked "Which company are you with?" She mumbled something...it was deliberate...And when I asked her to repeat it clearly, she asked for my manager.
"Ma'am, I don't have a manager, i head up a department. If you'll give me the PO, I can look up the order from last week."
And she hung up.
They've now called, screeched, and hung up 3 times in a row.
So, what the scam?
Well, i's pretty easy, they try to use phrases like "I'm calling to follow up on an order" to goad you into thinking they have legit business, giving them a name and address, to which they send a roll of tape, a moistening stick, and an invoice for $500.
It;'s listed here as "The Supply Swindle"

This seems to be a scam company. The caller ID shows 770 770 7701, but when I look them up on the web, that's not their number. Also they say they are a 'research' company but when I asked them "for who?" they said "the shipping industry." When I asked them "who hired you to do this research/study" they said no one. When I asked who they sell this information to they said "no one."
They asked for pkg volume and carriers used.
Started very general and then got specific.
This does not seem like a reputable company. They hide their real phone number, their questions go from general to specific, all the time telling me they are not asking for detailed info..

Looks like one of those freebee websites not at all a website of a 25+ year old company.
Just did not get a good feeling about this calls. And they have called MANY TIMES.
