With the number of scam calls most of us receive daily/weekly, it's a futile effort. Do-Not-Call applies only to legitimate businesses doing telemarketing who buy and update the DNC lists and honor the state and federal laws. Best way to cut down the number of prank calls is to NOT answer the phone if you do not recognize the number. If it's an important call, the caller with either call back or leave a voice mail message. By not answering the scam/robo calls, eventually the computer deletes your number, thought they may try again sometime later or using another fake number using a spoof card that tricks your caller ID into showing a legit number. Lately, scammer of replaced weird out-of-area area codes with your area code or one near you to fool you into thinking the call is legit. It isn't. DO NOT ANSWER is the best solution for now to discourage the robot. If you pick up on a scam call, it confirms to the scammers and their auto dialers that they have a working number and will step up the number of calls to you.
didn't answer the phone and the caller did not leave a message. My caller ID said "Out of area." Waste of resources and time !! Thanks for all the posts ........
I've gotten a number of calls from this number saying my phone/business listing is not up to date. I hung up; I know it's a scam. Why am I on a do-not-call list? You'd never know it - I must get half a dozen of these robocalls a day - some live.
