I received a call from someone who said they were from the internal revenue service. He said his name was Mike Davis. He said I needed to have my lawyer contact them. I knew right away it was a scam. Laughed and hung up. He called me two more times and then left an extensive voice mail.
I received the same phone call from "Mike Davis" who told me the same exact thing. When I called him out that it was an obvious scam, he got very aggressive with me and I hung up. About 10 minutes later I received a phone call which came up on my caller ID as "Wilmington Police Dept." and had the actual police department phone number. The person identified themselves as "Officer Wilson James" and said the IRS had told him to contact me. He repeatedly asked me for my location. I told him I was suspicious and asked where he was calling from. He gave me the address to the local police station. I then told him I would call that police station and ask for him to verify the phone call was legitimate. He then demanded I give him my location so he could take me into custody, then I hung up and called the police station, who (of course) had no record of any "Officer Wilson James". These scammers are relentless...
Just got a call from this number.
It was a recorded call and no name was given. It came from Miami FL and the message said I had serious IRS allegations and to call their number it else I may be taken into custody by court Marshall's. Umhm... As if that type of serious thing would be a recorded message.
I received a voicemail from (786) 393-6169 in Florida (I'm in San Jose, California) claiming the U.S. Marshall was in his way to my home to take me into custody, but if I called this number immediately, someone there had the power to call them off. I was warned that I was in serious legal trouble and faced arrest if I failed to make arrangements by calling this number. This was after I received a call from Washington DC claims they were the IRS and notifying me that I have been sued, and that if I contacted (202) 470-5938 they could arrange to call off the lawsuit. Both calls came within a few minutes of each other. Both were recorded messages claiming they had my social security number but not addressing me by name. It seemed like they were calling every number in sequence hoping a percentage of callers would be the elderly or those not of sound mind.
I wish the FBI would call these numbers, "sting" them, and then raid their businesses in Florida and DC!
