Got the same call from KMAX IT support in Miami. I knew it was a scam so I kept him on the phone for ten minutes. He told me his number is 786-592-0586. He got angry with me when I told him I was calling Microsoft to validate him, said "f*ck you" and hung up on me. Mission accomplished.
Just got off the phone with "Intel Tech Support" or so they claimed. I didn't get a name but it was actually two individuals (I was passed off to a supervisor) with thick eastern accents. They reported that my computer had been hacked and was sending error messages that were overloading their servers(?). I've had not issues with my computer but I went along with the pitch all the way up to and instruction to "click on the XYZ.exe" file. I stopped cooperating at that point and started asking (more) questions, specifically as to why they were calling me. They called me on my cell phone but the caller ID only reported "624" as the identifier. When I asked for a number to call them back I was given the 786-592-0586 number which (not surprisingly) the same "assister" answered. Pretty smooth operators, sound very much like the "real deal" in comparison to technical support services I've received in the past when I initiated the call. Unfortunately, there are probably a lot of people falling for this scam.
Man with heavy middle eastern accent called me to attempt to access my computer remotely to fix a Windows security issue. He claimed his name was David Bryant.
