Received a call from this number about 1 hr. ago. Couldn't get to the phone in time to answer. Caller ID: Unavailable. No voice mail message left. If it is a call from the Microsoft "tech support" scammers, as reported by others, I have blocked calls from other numbers used by them, so this may be a new try.
'David' with a heavy Indian accent said he was from 'Itec Alert' and that my computer was sending error messages. Claimed to be in Miami (but was certainly calling from overseas via the internet with a spoofed phone number), and was a service company hired by the company that sold me my computer (obvious lie).
I played along as the uniformed senior citizen until I got bored - and wasted 14 minutes of his time. Finally asked if he believed in karma, and he said yes. So I asked if he was concerned that being a criminal scum trying to steal from the elderly would bring him very bad karma. He hung up.
Saw the Caller ID info and let it ring 3 times and it stopped. All my annoying telemarketing and scam calls only ring three times while real people i know let it ring more, or even wait to leave a message on my answering machine which I call back. If possible I write down the number on caller ID and google it. Always confirms it was an unwanted call.
