I just got one of these too. Because I do have a banking relationship with Wells Fargo, though no mortgage that needs a refi, thought I'd call them, at 800-840-5812 to find out what's up with the call. I Opted Out of all marketing from them a long time back, so needed to find out if it was from them or not. They said it wasn't. Therefore, I informed them that someone is spoofing their name with a phishing scam on mortgage refi offers. Not sure if this will result in anything, such as getting them involved in tracking it down for prosecution, but maybe they will be able to notify others that it's a scam. Not hopeful though.
EVERYONE, please call Wells Fargo at 800-840-5812 to notify them you have been called too. Give the phone number you see on your Caller ID when you make the complaint.
There is no reason WFB would be calling me about this. Though I have a banking relationship with WFB, I Opted-Out of All forms of marketing from them a long time back and I don't have a mortgage that needs a refi, in anycase.
See my previous post below for even more info.
So, it's probably another phishing scam and WFB's name is being spoofed on the Caller ID in the hopes of getting callers to pick up and divulge personal information.
