I just received a text too about them wanting a babysitter.  When I asked how they heard about me they said to give them my email for more info.  Odd

They have contacted my daughter as well, said they got her information from care.com.  They said that they would be in town due to health reasons for the mom and needed a babysitter for their little girl.  They said they wanted to send her a check to cover expenses for the daughter to be able to have toys etc.  My daughter received the check and did what she was asked.  As soon as she did what was asked of her the check was returned from her bank and now she is negative in her account.  Thank goodness she used Western Union and was able to get all of the money back except for the fee.  My daughter tried calling the number back and it said it was a google voicemail then she texted the person and said that she would no longer be babysitting for them, he asked why and she said because this is fradulant and your check you sent me was fraud per my bank.  The guy then comes back and says we hope to meet you soon when we arrive ok and I believe you are still going to work with us once we settle with the bank, right?  I still believe this is fraud and have warned my daughter not to do this. She has now asked the guy more questions but of course hasn't answered her since she told him she withdrew the money back from western union and believes that all of this is fraud.

It's so sad that their are people out there like this.

Certainly sounds fraudulent and SCARY.  I hope you will notify the police of this.  Saying they will meet with you is unsettling at best.  As far as Care.com goes, I've used that service and I was NEVER permitted to contact the potential baby sitter directly.  Care.com set that all  up and I paid care.com not the individual.  Once they had a sitter for me, Care.com arranged the first meeting and all communications about the meeting went through Care.com.

I am wondering if your daughter gave her address for this? And if anything else has happened? I just 2 days ago was contacted by these people and went through the same situation but decided to look it up because it all seemed strange to me. After reading this I will make sure to contact back saying that I will not be babysitting.
