this literally JUST happened to me. He sent me a text and the first thing I said was did you find me on care.com. He replied back with exactly what you said above "What is your email address so I can give you more details or you email me at [email protected]." I replied with, let me guess, you need a sitter for your daughter Ashley, your wife is sick, you're staying in a hotel and you're a Christian. Ma i correct?? Needless to say I've gotten no reply. Thanks concerned teacher for this info. I'm new to the site to I wanna be very safe! I'm so floored that I can't even be safe from scammers on a babysitting site. Pretty scary.

I have read everything on the internet about this "Mike Buckner" and all the other names he uses. Plus me myself getting the email from him, etc. I have come to a few conclusions. This guy is a scammer. He is using us to get money from us. If you are interested in how this works refer to a couple comments on this page. As long as you DON"T cash the check that he sends you, you are in NO danger. You haven't given him any personal information. You need WAY MORE info then that to steal someones identity, etc. So none of you need to worry. Tell him to F off...it's that simple. And forget about it. And even if you did cash the check, most likely your bank will reimburse you for anything that happens. At least I know Chase Bank does this. The other conclusion I came to was, he uses MORE then 1 phone number. He can get any phone number he wants using the internet. And he apparently gives everyone the exact same story word for word. There are SO many scams like this out there. Someone gets an email like that every second. And sadly to say...there isn't much anyone can do about it. Eventually he will get caught. But it is VERY difficult because these people know how to cover their tracks. They hide behind a computer. So anyways just don't worry yourself. If you have received a check ...the only thing you can do is take it to your local "mail inspector". If you have been contacted by him but not gotten a check then there is nothing you can do. Police can't do anything and the FBI...i don't think you can even call the FBI. lol.

ALSO: From what I have read online: This person is getting your phone number from CARE.COM. I believe that Care.com is someone aware of this or involved. I know that sounds crazy BUT from everything I have read from many people online...the MAIN connection is: CARE.COM. So beware. My phone number wasn't even showing on my profile on that website. But I was STILL contacted by this scammer. Now that is actually a scary thing because the ONLY way that they could have gotten our phone numbers if they weren't on your page is through Care.com GIVING them access to them somehow. So....BEWARE. I would stop using Care.com.

This is 100% a scam! I had the same email, pictures, etc. only from someone named "Brydon Buckner." The check was sent from New York. The check itself was from Whole Foods in Dallas, TX. He wanted me to wire money through Money Gram to a location in Washington. My father is friends with someone involved with the FBI, and spoke to him about this. He knew exactly what he was talking about, and said this happens all the time. A lot of times, it is scammers from overseas, and the phone numbers theyre texting off of....arent even phones, they are just computer programs used to generate phone numbers, and make it seem like its a text message. The text messages I received came from a 903 number and a 248 number. They got my info off of care.com. It seems there is nothing you really can do to catch these people. Just as long as you dont do anything with the check, because all of the fraud will come back to you, and refrain from all contact with these people!

I received this same message about a sick wife and their 4 year old daughter only from (516) 499-5454. Using the name Bryndon Buckner. I had this pit in my stomach when he was asking for my name and address so he could send money and some of her things down ahead of time. Also, had a little broken English in spots, but family pictures he sent were from a family that would not match the broken English, if that makes sense. I received this after I signed up on Nanny.com.
