Called 6:00 on a sunday night. Left message on the machine because they thought someone had picked up. Couldn't understand some of the message but they said something like "Hello this is so and so calling from so and so associates and I would like to speak to a registered voter...... Anyone on the line?"
And they hung up.
Dial 801.373.7735, select option 2 and leave a message with your phone number requesting to have it blocked form their call-list (I found it under their "Contact Us" link and called tonight after a ghost call...)
Call today 8:01 pm EST.
Picked up, no answer.
After several seconds, the phone hung up.
Speculation:
Could be an attempt to gather a list of active numbers (people who answer strange numbers and are thus more likely to be responsive to other solicitations), or perhaps an attempt to connect to computers still with modems and ready to answer an incoming data call, or fax.
