Asian sounding gentleman, insistent that my windows computer is being hacked, gave me an ID...pushed and pushed me to get on to my computer. I refused, told him I had to investigate, and that he could call back in 15 minutes... Said the name of the company is 35 technicians of windows
The very asian-sounding caller claimed she was with "Windows Computer Support" and wanted to know if I was "the owner of this computer." Knowing that Microsoft doesn't make such calls, and knowing that this is how ransomware attacks are done, I called her a fraud and hung up.
They claim to be Microsoft Support and that they've detected malware on your Windows computer and want to help you fix it over the phone. It is a scam. If you run any commands on your computer that they tell you to type in then you may compromise your system security and allow them access to everything on your computer. If this happens you then you may need to wipe your computer and do a clean install of Windows. You can report the fraudulent call to Microsoft at https://support.microsoft.com/reportascam
Sounded like someone from India claiming to be from Microsoft and he told me there is a security issue with my computer. I played along for a bit and asked him to ID my computer and office platform to prove he was for real. He was insistent that I needed to check my CSLID to confirm. I eventually got bored and told him to stop trying to scam people to give him access to their computers, but he really tried to convince me to go check my computer. Caller ID shows as Frank Cater.
