It's a fake call from a collection agency. "The Rescue Mission" name is BS-Pasadena is 55 miles from Oxnard and there are a million actual charities in between. Just a-hole collectors checking to see if your number is valid and trying to get your address for the phony "pickup". If they were legit they'd leave a message.Collectors don't leave messages-that's the tell.
They've been calling me like crazy too, almost 8 calls in the last few days. This rescue mission in Oxnard is real and this is their number (it could be spoofed by others though). I've donated to them lots of times in the past as it's a good organization, I know people who were helped immensely by it. But I screen nearly all calls due to spoofing.
I did e-mail them and ask about all the calls and the woman replied they do call twice a day trying to reach someone. I replied back that they should really consider leaving a brief message saying why they are calling and only do it once a day, as right now their cold calling tactics are the same as thieves, scammers and telemarketers. She replied back saying they will discuss it in their next meeting, so hopefully they change their ways.
