Got a call from this number early in the morning, didn't look at the caller ID since I was half sleeping. I told them I didn't want to be bothered.  Another call came in right after that and said her name was Leilani and she was doing a survey.  Told her don't bother me. When I looked up the number it was to late to not have answered.  Calls keep coming....

Recieved a phone call from the number (808)-000-0000, today (01,23,2011), time 6:12pm. I didnt answer it because it is quite suspicious to have an all zero number side from the area code. Multiple calls across a couple years time span, differential times and locations, all with different and yet similar purposes. Judging by how much people have recieved this call and reported it, here anyways, it looks to me more like along the lines of a call bouncing or phone hacking. Phone lines are not secure, an its not that hard to have a computer program randomly generate a phone number and to dial it, then connect it with some sort of telecomunicator or something.
Phone hacking is quite simple, certain phones are built with certain features and it can be used to essentually check off what it has and does not have to single out your phone type. Once that is figured out, modifying the settings remotely is not that very difficult, especially when it is pre-programed into the call. Bypassing a "block phone number" setting is fairly easy, in an easier sort of sense, tricking it into thinking that it is not a number in which to block is the basic version of it, it requires some time to set up a program but it can be used on multiple levels. As for some who know the identity of a close person, or your exact name. Don't think that its some spook from the government trying to get you to do something, I can google most people and find almost everything about them through social networking.

These are just my hypothesies, and opinions. Feel free to scrutinize,

Call from Hawaii Public Radio asking for my yearly donation to it.  The first call didn't come through (it was just static) but the second call went through.  They were very friendly and had the necessary information to prove that it's them and not some random scammer.

I'm guessing this is a number that pops up if a company uses some sort of "call blocker" for their calls, whether telemarketers or non profit organizations.
