I got a call this morning from this number. Caller ID said it was a Michigan call.
The guy said he was calling for paralyzed veterans of America. I told him that we don't have any paralyzed veterans.
Then he said, No, I don't want to talk to a paralyzed American. I'm collecting money for the paralyzed veterans in the state." He went on to explain that I could donate $50, $10 or $5. He would send me a card in the mail with the donation amount.
I asked him what state he was collecting for and he said "The state you're in now."
I told him that I would contact the Veteran's organization directly because I don't trust anyone who calls me for donations; especially someone who couldn't tell me what state he was calling.
Keep getting repeated calls from MI numbers. On all the calls, once the answering machine kicks in, they hang up. If you answer the phone, there is never a person on the other end, but there is a lot of muffled and garbled conversation. The caller never identifies themselves, but caller ID labels it as a Michigan Call.

Got this same call today. Putting them on our computers "block call list", along with the rest of the over 300 crap-numbers. They'll never get anyone but our computer system here. Don't ya just love technology when we can use it against these pariahs of our society. ;^))
This number calls me now and then, does not leave a message and I don't pick up. However, today I called it back and got a recording which said that it was a charitable organization. Did not say which charitable organization, but did state that they are exempt from the do not call list. Press 1 if I wanted my number removed. NEVER EVER do this, then they know they got a real person. Don't answer, they usually will give up or call less frequently. I even go as far as turning off my answering machine when I am home.
My gripe is, if they are a charitable organization (a real one), they need to identify which one, because some are just B.S. and these kind are a pain in the butt!!!
