A lady called asking for my oldest son. I replied that he is not home, and asked if I can take a message for him. She said she is calling from American General, and it's personal matter. Then she hung up.
I am going to report this caller to the NC Attorney General's office and also to the heating company from whom I bought my heat pump. My account is in good standing and I should not be receiving these calls. This company screwed up my account 3 times before they got it straightened out. The company I bought my heat pump from finally had to threaten them that they would cancel their contracts with them if Am. General could not get their act together. Am. General is like dealing with loan sharks!!!!
I get calls from this number often. They stopped for a while but they've started again, and now it's up to about once a day. If I don't answer they don't leave a message. If I do answer, I just hear clicks and silence. No one ever says anything!! This is very annoying. I don't know why, but when it shows up on my caller ID it just says EVANSVILLE, IN below the number. No company name.
If you call the number back during the day (also applicable on Saturdays) you can request to be placed on their internal Do Not Call list. The national DNC registry does not apply for some reason. It's definitely American General Finance though.
I also receive phone calls daily; I called the number and asked to be placed on their 'Do No Call' list. I was told it would take a few days to be active if I received more calls to inform them of my request.
It starts as an automated line that is requesting you to start a new loan with them.
I have recenlty been receiving calls from this number and I have never answered. It sounds like this has been going on for a while. I live in Californina and I have never even heard of this place. They have never been able to view any personal info. have they?
Just got a call, I called them back and told them I did not want to be on their "Curtesy Contact List" The operator said she would take my name off and it would be from 1 to 30 days for that to happen.
The reason they say they can contact you is that you at one time or are currently in a loan with them and so that gives them a "reason" to be able to contact you.
