@Mary Johnson. What did they give you? I contacted Lisa Madigan's office this morning about these people and their tactics to bring people in. They claim not be be a timeshare company and yet, the people that have been there saw a timeshare presentation. I plan on pursuing this to the fullest extent of what my legal rights are. I'm on the national DO NOT CALL list and told the so the first time they called. Today I received my 6th call from them. I have asked them every time to take my number out of their computer and the guy told me he couldn't do it. I told him if he calls again, I'm pursuing legal action but have decided not to give them a 7th chance. They lie to you on the phone and if you don't listen to what they have to say, they have the guts to yell at you and tell you that you are the one that's wrong for not going along with their scam tactics. I don't know how stupid they think the American people are, but they're about to find out. I told the man I wanted to talk to either his supervisor or someone from the US and he told me he couldn't let me do that. They have crossed a line I'm not willing to tolerate. They're worse than bill collectors. I'm almost positive they're calling from India and when I asked the man that, he told me I was making verbal attacks against his country so that right there told me I was right. I even asked one of the callers if I could come down to Tri-State Pkwy in Gurnee and talk to her personally and she went as far as to say she was there. When I went there I found a Man Power office. I'm not one to put up with this kind of garbage and neither should anyone else be. The business practices are very deceptive and if we were all smart we would start a class action lawsuit against this company.
I received a Carnival Cruise and 2 Round trip Air Fares Free coupon in the mail today. I called the telephone number and was asked a couple of questions. Wanted to know if I was in an age group and if my income was over 45K.
I asked address of A B Vacations and was told 6330 East 75th Street, Indpls., IN. The guy said this was a free offer from a travel agency new to this area.
Tried to look up A B Vacations on BBB and couldn't find them. Then found this google listing of A B Vacations. Like everyone knows, you don't get something for nothing.
Unlike the other post I didn't get a phone call I got something in the mail saying Happy Birthday you have been verified to receive 8 night/7 day Carnival Cruise and two airline tickets if you call within 48 hours.
Now I'm not an attorney nor do I play one on TV but wouldn't this be considered mail fraud? They are using deceptive tactics to sell their "no gimmick" products.
I'm thankful I found this site before I got a sitter and journey to Gurnee. Like most everybody this year was rough and it sure would have been nice to be able to take a vacation. (sigh)
My wife received the same "Happy Birthday" free criuse and air letter in the mail. We called and scheduled an appointment knowing that we have gone through time-share presentations several times in the past with no problem of saying no. The address is the same (6330 E. 75th St).
The guy on the phone said the "travel agency" was named Vacation Sensation" but the e-mail confirmation we would receive would say "vacationtours.com". The BBB has no listings for either of these companies.A.B.Vacations came up as vague of a company as the other two names.
I think we are going to go to the appointment in spite of the obvious indications that this is strictly a sales ploy. We have gone through it before with other companies and, although hoops to go through, got some pretty good vacations at little or no out of pocket cost.
Well I changed my mind about going to give these guys a shot. After reading some more A.B. Vacations info I went on line to their certificate redemption site (VTU).
If you want to actually use one of their vacation certificates (example was for a 4 day caribbean cruise) you have to pay a $35.00 processing fee, a 249.00 per person tax-port fee-misc.fee, plus $25.00 each certificate fee. That totals up to $583.00 for a 4 day/3 night cruise that Carnival offers for $169.00 each. If you add in airfare that comes to within a couple of hundred bucks of doing it on your own without the 90 minute sales presentation.
I think we are no longer interested in their "free" vacation.
These people from AB Vacations are a serious mess. They sound nervous on the phone. Then they keep calling to make sure you are coming. I said I would come, but then I looked on the BBB and they were not accredited, after they told me they were. When they called back I told them "No Thanks". Be careful because it sounds like they are trying to scam money out of people. Marriott is not associated with these jokers. Remember if you do go, never make a big purchase on the spot. If a company won't let you walk away and have a few days to think about it then the deal they are offering isn't that great. Timeshares are a joke anyway!
