This place Portfoliorecv has been calling me since 2010 3 to 4 times per day. Had a load back in 2002 for a car that had been repossessed in 2004. They only started calling me in 2010. I told them" Why must I pay for a load from back in 2002, and the car is gone. And they call from different numbers. And this does not show up on my credit report!!!
Are you saying you defaulted on the loan and the car was repossessed?
At the time, whatever the vehicle was sold for probably did not cover the amount still owed on the loan.
And that debt could still be collected on, even sued for up to the end of the statute of limitations.
After that, all they can do is beg ... politely pester.
2004 was 12 years ago
If it was reported, the default would have dropped off your credit report after 7 years.
But the debt can still be collected ... so don't make any payments.
And when they call again, tell them to mail you proof the debt exists and that they have a right to collect it.
Because they might not have the original documentation ... and a line in a spreadsheet isn't proof.
I did look this # up and it is a spoofing number meaning, not a good number to try to call them back and reach anyone. Never leave a message and guess this # needs to be blocked. Portfolio Recovery
Too bad you didn't get past the third post. Then you would have been able to read some of the many informative posts in this thread telling you how to handle calls from this debt collector.
