VALID CALL: No worries. This is UPS. I have a business and was offered shipping discounts through an association I am a member of... They were just calling me to offer and set up my discounts.
SCAM. Not even a little bit legitimate, don't believe the posts saying it is!
I received a call Tuesday of last week from a different number, purporting to be someone from UPS calling regarding potential fraudulent activity on my account "that I opened in [rough approximation of a date]. I declined to discuss the matter with that person, then called the UPS 1-800 number to talk with a representative there. The representative confirmed that there was nothing resembling fraud on my account. I ultimately decided to close the account, since I had subsequently opened a new account, and was using the new account now. I hadn't used the account with the purported fraud on it for probably at least a year prior to receiving the call.
So today, six days after I closed that account, I received a call from this number claiming to be an representative from UPS. And this alleged "representative" said that he had noticed I had done an outstanding amount of business with them last week, and he wanted to discuss how they could better serve my needs. Really? An "outstanding amount" of business on an account that has been closed, not used AT ALL for at least a year prior to that, and maybe shipped 3 packages total? Sure, that's legitimate!
