And btw, like someone above said, if you don't think you have debt you need to double check...what he owed on that car NEVER showed up on his credit or anything. So ya'll just be sure and take care of it, if they do the same thing to you like they were going to do to him and put a lean on you....that means you can never own a house, another car....ANYTHING. Be careful and take care of your business. The reps are mean because they get cussed out all day, but after my husband told them he was a nice guy and was going to work with them, they were tolerable after that.
I am not an employee at this debt collection place, but I work for somebody that USES them. They are a legit collection agency, trying to collect payment. If you think you don't have debt.....you may want to check!
Been getting this call about a situation that has changed FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW..... They don't leave a number to call back and they start calling at 8am. Ed, call yourself or at least leave a #.
In case you haven't heard, there's a bit of an unemployment issue in the country, one not of the people's making and one that does not discriminate between those who deserve to be unemployed and those laid off because jobs are going overseas, business is lousy, etc.
Many of our wonderful corporations send the jobs overseas, then, for the few remaining jobs left, say "unemployed need not apply," no matter the reason for their unemployment.
What kind of system prohibits people who've run into bad luck from seeking employment and then has smart alecks condescendingly tell them to get a job, as if the unemployed need to be told. Maybe it doesn't occur to you, but most people like to feed their children, pay the mortgage, etc.
What they don't need is ignorant, insensitive jerks smarting off at them. You might remember, there but for the grace of God, go I.
And, no, I am not unemployed, but in my brokerage I have come across a lot of people who are suffering in ways you can't imagine and have no way out.
My mother in law got a call from a VERY rude lady today asking for my husband(who obviously doesn't live with her anymore) wouldn't give her name, company, NOTHING! He called the # to see what was going on, and they stated he owed a debt from a previous car from over 10 years ago. He hasn't received any notice/calls about this for over 9 years, and out of the blue they say he needs to pay $6,000 today, or they will put a lean on him and serve papers tomorrow....Excuse me, but who the heck has that kind of money just lying around?! Then after finding out he can't pay that, they said he could do a payment plan of $86 every month until the $6,000 is paid off....but here's the kicker....they said he ACTUALLY owes $15,000, but they will just take the $6,000 and call it even. Trying to convince him this is too sketchy.
