On 4-16-13 at 3:41 p.m. CST I received a call and a message in a woman's voice from the phone number 864-641-3279 (originating in Greenville, SC, USA) stating the following:
This is the Civil Investigations Unit, and that someone was filing a complaint against me and addressed me with my full legal name, listing a claim/affidavit #, and the Order to Show Cause contains a Restraining Order. The message stated that I was named as a Respondent in a court action and must appear. It also stated I must call 864-641-3279 and forward the information to my attorney and that I must respond within 24-48 hours to oppose the action, and then she said "Good Luck".
Thank goodness I googled this phone # and came to this website where it is obviously a scam (something I could tell right away after listening to this idiotic message)!!! What kind of scam is this?
I received a call from this company stating I had a restraining order filed against me. I tried calling them a number of times and finally got someone telling me that I owed money to Hour Eyes for some prescriptions which is false. I asked him for more information about these charges and he hung up on me.
I called again and after a few tries got someone else telling me that I had a line of credit with Hour Eyes which is currently delinquent.....FALSE!! I then asked him to give me more details and he hung up on me. This is totally a scam but the scariest thing is that they had the last four of my social security number. How do they get this information?
They also called my sisters cell phone and left a message on there for me?!
I recieved a call 4-16-13 from 864-641-3279. The call was a recording in a female voice for my son, who has not lived with us in over 5 years. The recording stated there was a court action and gave a reference number. It went on to say that (my son's)name or his attorney had 24 to 48 hours to contact them. The last part was to press 2 to speak to someone and the recording ended the call. My husband called back, but the mailbox was full. Not sure what the point of the call was if they do not let you talk to a person. Hopefully they will not call back.
Today 4-18-13 got a call from 864-641-3279 that I have 24 to 48 hrs to call I was when I heard it but thanks to google and everybody's post I would not even call them back. If they are debt collectors it is against Federal Trade Commission law to post as representative of the law and making harassing calls.
these folks called a friend of mine in charlotte, nc about said legal matter, but the message was for me - i live in california. when i called the next day w/my case number (after several attempts and no option to leave a message), they said i had opened an account w/HSBC in 2007 with no intent to pay, and that i owe about $1,000. the further provided me w/application details - wrong address, parents phone number as my phone number, and then the first 5 digits of my social. when i said, this is not me, she said report it as fraud.
i called back the next day - thinking maybe an old roommate and i got mixed up w/a creditor somehow - and wanted to provide them w/additional information, and they hung up on me...5 times!! a woman and a man...it was almost laughable had i not been so pissed!! here i'm thinking i'm trying to help and i was being treated like this!!??
well, my friend in charlotte googled them while i was driving in to work, and lo and behold, all of your comments!! certainly making me feel better, but going to call my bank and creditors to have them monitor my account for suspicious activity...
