...had a heavy accent claiming that there is a problem with the Windows operating system. He said, "Every time your go on Internet spyware, viruses, malware download all information from your computer. You been selected for phone call to fix your computer." I had to stop myself from laughing at this moron so I ask him, "How can you fix my computer from the phone?" He said, "You must go to our website so we fix your computer and remove virus." I guess he got nervous when I kept probing his conversation because he hung up before I got the web address.
Please don't allow this amateur to play this silly game on you.
This is most definitely a scam. These people have been calling my home for months, my daughter finally picks up tonight and puts me on the phone. The guy says he is with tech support department of windows, and they have detected that the website we go to have allowed viruses onto our PC. I stop him and advise him that I actually work for my internet provider in the tech support departement for internet, tv and phone, and that I am very sure that this is not happening. I then ask that my number be removed from their database, as we are on the national do not call registry, he immediately hangs up on me. I call the number back and get the message that the number is no longer in service. I ASSURE YOU ALL, THIS IS A SCAM. Please do not believe anything that they tell you. Unless they have been given remote access to your computer (and you would know if they had, becasue you, yourself would have to allow it) they would not know if you had a virus. In all actuality, not even your internet provider can tell you have a virus without remote access (and in most cases, can't do anything about it if you do have a virus, they are only the internet provider, if a PC is infected, it takes an outside computer repair person/company to remove them) ***PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS*** keep yourself and your PC safe, register your phone number with the national do not call registry, and after 31 days you can report unwanted scammers to help stop them! And if you feel your PC may actually be infected, call a computer repair place, or you can even contact your internet provider to see if they have a company they work with or can refer to one, good luck!!!
Got an Indian, could not understand most of what he said, wanted me to get on my computer. Told him I did not do things over the phone and I did not like to get calls from India. What happened to the do not call list.
