I got this same call today. Im only eleven so when i awnsered the phone they asked if i was 18 or older and i said no the hung up the phone right then and there. i talked to my mom she said it was ST.Judes hospital because i donatied to them before. I dont know why they would be making long distance calls if they really arent going to get anything out of it!Idiots!
I just read the posts above. It is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It is a not-for-profit, section 501 (c)(3) corporation. They are seeking donations via telephone calls from a call center that only generates outgoing calls. Therefore, you are not able to dial back the number and receive a response. They are quite a credible organization. It is a large facility located in Memphis, TN, and they raise money in order to accommodate those families who are not able to pay for services, which can be quite costly. No child is ever turned away for lack of insurance or insufficient funds. They help children with many illnesses, cancer being one of them, as well as Juvenile Diabetes and a host of others. If you aren't interested in receiving the calls, log on to www.stjude.org to become familiar and learn how you can donate. From the "donate now" page, you can call the 800 number, or email them to cease receiving these calls. It is very worthwhile to visit this page to learn about their patients and how your donation can help. You can even give in memory of a loved one. Please consider visiting their website. I have received several calls from this number in the past 12 plus months.
It is on my ID Caller as From Memphis Tn., no name is indicated as to who
the Caller is. I donate to St Jude;s and have from time to time received
a phone call which always shows up as St Jude;s, etc. The St Jude phone calls have been to thank me for my donations, Also in checking
the number it is listed as a Cell Phone and is unpublished or unavailable.
Any reputable organization is not going to call you on a cell phone and hide their idenity. Also, there is software which can put any name or number they want on your ID Caller so you really don't know who you are
talking to. I would not recommend sending money or give your credit card
number to anyone who operates in this non-business type way. Todays
world is full of scams of all kinds. St Jude's has always sent me brochures , etc. on their Childrens Hospital program. I seriously doubt
this is St Jude calling all these people in the manner they have been calling. St Jude's Hospital is far more professional and reputable then
to lower their standards to this method of operation. If it talks like
a duck, walks like a duck, more than likely it is a duck......enough said..
Hey, its me again. I was finally home to take a call from this number on a Saturday morning.
Talked to a real person at this telephone number yesterday after a brief amount of dead air. It is Infocision, a paid caller phoning on behalf of St Jude. Go to www.infocision.com and you will see they do non-profit telemarketing among many others.
They know you have donated to St. Jude's in the past. Caller asks why you donate and if you would be interested in becoming a regular monthly donor with a pledge amount. The program she described is that you will receive an envelope every month and you can choose to return it with your pledge amount or not.
I don't like any phone solicitations or 3rd party involvement so I declined the donation request. Caller was very professional and understanding.
On my CID it only shows up as Tennessee Call and the phone number. A reverse phone number search shows its a cell phone. Those websites are not always the most up to date, especially since number portability has been an accepted practice. John, if you had taken a phone call from them you could have posted a factual and accurate report.
