I received the same call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. I told them that my son was a systems manager,and that I would have him take a look at it. They hung up immediately.
We have received at least 3 or more calls per day. Someone with a foreign accent says we are going to be in trouble!!! Always a recorded message with a number to call. DEFINITELY A SCAM!! Microsoft does not make calls to customers. Windows is a Microsoft product and the Windows staff does not make phone calls to customers. If anyone is on the other end,I always tell them we do not have a computer. And IF anyone is on the other end, I also tell them this phone is monitored by the police (FBI, whatrever!) and they are tracing the call.
Got the call from Windows Tech about the error messages my computer was sending out. When I stated that it wasn't and that I knew he was a scammer, he wasn't happy with me. I stated I worked with the Fraud department but he continued to argue with me. When I told him he was calling from India, he wouldn't hear of it. Granted the phone number shows Pittsburg, TX, that doesn't meant a thing. He told me to trace the number he was calling from, but the idiot gave me my home phone number. He is rude and nasty.
