Called my work cell phone, a number which I do NOT give out. This tells me they are probably in a call warehouse dialing from random number sheets to see what they can get. He said his name was David from DB Direct Buy Promotions, and as soon as I asked him what that company is and how he got my number, he hung up.
Received a call on my cell phone this afternoon from a John Martin who said he was with Direct Buy Promotions. He was obviously calling from a telemarketing call center as I could hear dozens of voices in the background. He said his records showed I had filled out a registration card in December wanting to enter a contest to win one of five prizes and I was one of 30 finalists to actually win a prize. Whenever I go to a retail store, I buy what I came for and get out and I do NOT stand around filling out cards for prizes I'll never win. I told him that I don't ever fill out cards like that giving out all my personal information and he said they were promoting their contest in over 60 local stores in the Jacksonville, FL area all through December and I must have just forgot that I filled one out. I told him sure, just to hear the rest of his pitch and so I asked him what five prizes I forgot that I signed up to win. He started with an 80" Sharp TV (that'd be nice if it was true), a French door refrigerator, a $500 AmEx gift card, and then he got to the 3 day/2 night vacation package for two at one of 40 destinations. There were only two qualifications - I had to be either married, have a partner or be dating someone - I and my wife/partner/date had to be between 25-65. I told him my wife and I were both over 65, so we wouldn't qualify for that one and let's hear the fifth prize I might have won. He wanted to know just how old we were and I said it didn't matter, we didn't qualify. He wouldn't tell me the fifth prize until I told him how old we were, I told him he didn't need to know and he hung up.
