Somewhat funny here... I say this because last week I recv'd 3 notices from 2 different agencies (MJR & CRM) over 3 different outstanding 7+yr old debts with TD (Overdraft, LOC and C.C.). Their phone calls have just recently started, and today when I went to chat with the fellow over a "Very Urgent MSG", I told him to hang on a second as I take my jacket off (I had just come in the door) and he immediately hung up on me. Humm...!?! LOL!! (Had he not, I would have treated him like a 976 call girl - that's always fun and freaks them out)
So, in my case it doesn't matter. These debts are stats barred and no longer on my credit reports. I'm guessing that this is TD's last attempt at collecting the debt before they sell it off to a 3rd party (Acktiv Capital, etc..).
My advice to others: Know when your debts are stats barred by provincial legislation at time of default. Verify your credit reports and determine if debts have been sold to a 3rd party. Refrain from overreacting - i/e: Don't let them make you scared. Have your facts in check then play your cards.
these guys don't stop calling....... this one jerk told me that he was from the legal department @ mjr and that they were gonna sue me if i didn't pay..............
My wife received 2 calls from some woman from 905-671-4151, appearantly looking for my nephew. After the first call, I checked the # on Canada411 and found it was MJR Collection Services in Mississauga, so I advised my wife that if they call again, tell them you have no clue where the nephew is. (I have not seen him in over 9 years and my wife has never met him!), and that we don't want them calling here again. Sure enough they called again and they were told not to call back.
Yesterday morning I took a call coming from that same # and the woman asked for (my nephew). I said,"Look, you people have been asked nicely not to bother us. I have not seen him in over 9 years and you have been told that! So stop harassing us! Any further calls will be considered harassment and you will be hearing from my lawyer....Got it?? Write it down!! Tell all your friends. DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN!!" and then I hung up.
In less than 5 seconds the phone rings again....call display showing the same #. I answer the phone, "What????" She says to me, "Is that they way you answer your phone? What?I says, "Only when I am being harrassed! What part of our conversation did you not understand??"
She says, "Don't you try and tell me you dont know him..." I cut her off and told her I never said that but reitterated that I've not seen him in 9 years and that I don't know where he is and really don't care where he is.
She starts in about how he's my brothers' son and.....blah blah! By this time I had already removed the phone from my ear, and held it in front of me, told her to 'f'-off and hung up the phone.
Another 5 seconds go by and the phone rings again.....same #!! Guess she had second thoughts because it only rang twice, then went silent. Too bad really because I had a pen and paper with me and wanted to get her name and her supervisors name and the name of the company she works for...(and by law she has to give that info) I wanted to know who to name in the suit.
We then put a call-block on our phone for that #.
These people keep calling MY CELL PHONE!!!!! MJR Collections regarding an old cable bill from cogeco. I had cogeco home phone service along with cable and highspeed...with NOOOOOO exageration for 6 months In that 6 months my phone worked for 7 days...today it worked...for the next 9-10 it didn't. I would call them and request it to be fixed and was given exuse after exuse...THEY CUT MY PHONE OFF OVER $6.00 seriously!!!! Then cut off my highspeed 2 days later. Now this MJR collections keeps calling my cell phone I explained to them why the bill wasn't paid ...I really don't think I should have to pay for a service that I didn't get to use in the 6 months I had it when it's the fault of the company for not fixing the problem. They tell me I have to pay it and wouldn't you know it...the $6.00 I had owed is according to MJR is now $350.00 and collecting interest!...anyway I've stopped answering my cell phone everytime it rings I feel sick they don't stop...they are extreamly rude and constantly threat to drag you to court...unfortunately for them I know a little regarding debt...TIP FOR YOU ALL: NO company in their right minds would even consider actually taking you to court over a debt under $3000.00 it's not worth their time and would cost them wayyyyy more then the debt...they will threat it...but it really holds no ground!

The other people who call are simply high school dropouts that could'nt get a job working at Tim Horton’s; notice that they indicate how “they are calling on Jason’s behalf”. That’s because none of them are licensed to collect debts in Canada. That’s right; one requires a license to engage in such a dirty deed in our Country.
