Called and asked for the number on our printer in our office...I have had these calls before so I hung up. She called back and said that I "have an ugly name, by the way!" Who does that???
"Hi, my name is Mike and I'm calling from the company that manages your copier, I need to double check the model number on the machine."
I asked, "What company did you say you were with?"
"I'm with IDC." <---Usually they hang up on me when I ask this.
"Oh, that's not who does our copier, you must have a wrong number."
Got their call this am If you have time for some fun -- say "Oh sure I can get that for you!" Put them on hold and check back rvery 2 mins or so and say "Just a minute I got interupted by some scam call --- I ll have the number for you in just a minute". Check back until they give up.That can take 10-15 minutes out of their scam time and only takes 30 sec or so of ours as we can do our work while they are on hold. If we all do that they'll go out of business!
Some lady on the other line starts off by saying she needs our companies photo copier ID number. I've had scam calls like this before. I know we have a contract set-up directly with the copier brand we use. She kept asking for it and I as I was telling her no she hung up as if it was accidentally disconnected. Just don't pick up or hang up instantly if any company just starts requesting information on your products without saying who they are first. They called you, not the other way around.
