They spoof the phone number. It's not their phone number and apparently not an in service number. This is typical of scammers to spoof their number because if they can get someone to give up their personal information, they don't want you to call them back. This is why we need legislation to ban phone number spoofing with hefty fines and jail time, not the simple slap-on-the-wrist for the do-not-call list which is now a farce! I feel it's a form of identity thief, especially when I get calls to my phone and the calling number comes up as my own phone number. That number is assigned to me and should *not* be used by anyone else.
they call and tell me I have a account with them thats past due, funny I dont have a credit card at all, but when i call them back its disconnected tell me how if its disconnected they can make calls
Got a call 'informing me of a cancellation on my verizon account' and that it 'should be back to normal.' I played along and agreed, and they hung up. Guess I didn't give him a reason to ask for any personal information since all I said was 'okay.'
