This number is a scam, claims to be from the us treasury department . I should not have to be receiving calls from these people on my personal cellphone.
Same phone, same nonsense scripted crap. I actually spoke with Michelle and told her that obviously its a scam because I have my files saved right on comp for backup reference and then she gives me bogus figures not matching mine at all, basically told her to go f*** herself and hung up. Also indian and just like the people above had said, IRS wouldnt outsource calls like this, especially to a person who barely can pronounce the english language. Fake crap, got me fumming, and they called while I was at a damn baseball game, the nerve.
I just received a phone call from this number at 7:30am pst. First a "Process Server" called and instructed me I needed to call the 917 number listed above immediately as I have a case pending against me from the Treasury Department. I then called number back and spoke to Michelle Jones who tried to get me to pay $1,284 immediately to stop a warrant being issued for my arrest and that if I didn't comply I could be arrested up to six months with no bail if I didn't pay this amount as well as arrange a payment arrangement with them today. I put her off and said I needed to check with my bank regarding if I had the funds available to do that and immediately called the IRS line that I already have been dealing with. They instructed me that my case is currently under review with their collections department and that this is a scam and to report it as soon as I could.
These people have called my 89 year old father saying they're from the U.S. Dept of Treasury legal affairs department and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. And, if we don't pay $500 "today" over the phone the sheriff is going to come to his house and arrest him. Said they sent papers 3 weeks ago. I've called them back several times and they hang up on me. Will contact the Attorney General's office immediately.
Received a call from this number on my cell phone. I let it go to voice mail not recognizing it. Checked the voice mail and was told by a man with a thick accent that he was from the department of legal affairs and needed to speak to me about an urgent matter. The background sounded very busy.
I blocked the number and didn't call back.
I almost fell for it!! This is a scam!! Went to the police and checked it all out!! The scammer under the name: Danny Archer Employee ID#02801 tried to say that I owe the Fed's $1284.85 and that an arrest warrant was out for me and that my credit score will drop 200 points... He stayed on the phone with me all the way to the bank then to the store to get the money sent, yes I went that far with them until the lady behind the desk spotted what was going on and stopped me. When I asked for ways to confirm this was legit and he gave me these # to call; 510-545-7912 and 202-506-8020. The original call was from 917-652-8604. Another name used was Michelle Jones.
