Really?? Seriously?? A "cable company" calling almost all the way across the country?? I don't think so!! Caller ID showed Charter Cable, and we, obviously, did NOT answer! Why would a "cable company" with a California area code, be interested in someone more than three quarters of the way across the country? They would not, which tells me that it is a scam!! Geeze!! Apparently these people believe that we, as consumers, are all "stoopid"!

I have charter cable and they are constantly calling me to add TV to my internet subscription. I got a Charter call from Tampa, FL last week, and a call from this California number this morning. There's a large Netflix call center in Oregon...would you be skeptical about receiving a call from them? I guess what I'm saying is: call centers can be anywhere. There's this common stereotype about how all the big call centers are in India -- so much so that NBC made a very unsuccessful sitcom about it and countless, hacky Stand-Up Comedians made copious jokes about it. Am I to assume that it's a "scam" any time I talk to somebody in a call center which is a different state or country?
Chances are, someone who actually has Charter Cable typed their phone number in wrong, or the person making the sales calls screwed up, or Charter is becoming available in your area...or any number of legitimately annoying things that don't constitute a "scam" in the traditional sense of the word. You're clearly overreacting.
And here I am, correcting you, which means that I'm probably overreacting too.
They're at it again!! And,...just for the record, we DO NOT have Charter, nor any other cable company! We can not get cable out here in "po-dunk hollow' countryside! Not enough people for the area served to make it profitable for them! Suits me fine, since I get enough crap from plenty of other businesses that I'm not interested in, either!
Got a call an hour ago from this number and they didn't leave a voicemail. Called back, a guy answered claiming it was Charter Cable, told me to hold on a second while he pulled up the reason they called... Took 15-20 seconds of dead silence before coming back to me and he asked me who I currently have for cable, and I told him I have Charter... He said "you already have charter," so I replied Yes, and he just randomly hung up. Kind of weird. Have never received a call from charter since I signed up 3 months ago.
