This number has called me about 15 times today alone, no one says anything and when you attempt to call back to find out who it is, the number states that you have reached a non-working number for United Health Group. I've tried to look this company up and I'm not sure if the number/company are associated. I have no debts, thanks to God, but this is annoying.
I called United Health Care (which is not the same as United Health Group). They have no such service working on behalf of them to obtain provider information. We keep getting calls from them to respond by calling 310-955-1221, and UHC doesn't report any such number as part of their company. Several boiler room reps have called. They claim they can only verify over the phone; that they have no access to a fax machine or to mail a request via snail mail. That is not how legitimate 3rd party verifiers operate, but it is how list building scammers operate.
This number keeps calling my home, and never leaving a message on voice mail. I called it back and it is a non working number at United Health Group according to the recording and I should call back on the number on the back of my card. What Card? I have had no dealing with United Health Group, and I am not a business. Why don't these people check the DO NOT CALL LIST????
Called wanting tax ID information - I asked for a number to call them back on and he refused to do that - I told him that they could fax us the information requested and we would verify the sender and fill it out as necessary. He kept asking for our tax id number, so I hung up.
If this was really United Healthcare HMO, then why is United Healthcare unaware of this number? Someone is spoofing someone. This number calls as "anonymous" in our phone system, but our phone system is sophisticated enough to root out the number anyway. Calls come from 952-367-5600, and we are asked to call back a number in Maryland (310-955-1221) (which is a number that Google shows to be associated with nobody in particular), with a case number, to provide "demographic" information about medical providers that we cannot and will not verify over the telephone and that they already have on file.
So if United Healthcare is, unbeknownst to the higher-up administration of United Healthcare, placing these outbound calls, then the number is being spoofed by list-builders. That's all I can image.
