This number has called me about 15 times today alone, no one says anything and when you attempt to call back to find out who it is, the number states that you have reached a non-working number for United Health Group. I've tried to look this company up and I'm not sure if the number/company are associated. I have no debts, thanks to God, but this is annoying.
This is a legit # from United, but it is also being spoofed by a scammer with a girly voice, by the name of James who also calls me on my private home #, as well as my clinic #. He forgets that we have had run-ins & continues to call, asking for my office demographic info, which United already has. (United would never call me on a private home # for this info.)
This was an interesting call.
‘United Healthcare’ wants ‘to verify demographic data’ on a particular doctor.
But, just look at all the red flags that come up.
1. The caller ID name is UNAVAILABLE, so they're trying to hide who they are.
2. They've called the home phone of the doctor's spouse, so that's unprecedented and unprofessional.
3. They say they just want to verify demographic information, but that kind of information has nothing to do with determining whether a medical provider is certified for reimbursement. In fact it would probably be illegal to determine qualifications based on race, religion or age, which are all basic demographic data. Other commenters here have said this caller asked for a tax identification number, which is a personal identification type of data. So, it looks like this caller is trying to hide his intentions.
4. The caller is asking you to call another number, and she gives you a reference number to report when calling back. Both of these are hallmarks of a setup in my experience.
No… The doctor is not going to give out information on the phone to a caller who does not appear to be qualified to be asking for such information. The doctor would prefer that the ‘insurance company’ call the location of the original claim and speak with the certifications officer there to determine whether this medical provider is qualified or not.
I just got a call I did not pick up from this number (952-367-5600). I am NOT a current member of any health program. I used to have United Health Care but that was months ago. I am also not of an age to qualify for Medicare/Medicaid so I suspect that this is a very sophisticated sounding scam that just has enough vague information to sucker you in. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE TO SOMEONE CALLING YOU! Call back your provider directly if they say they are your provider, and use the phone number you got with your policy, not the one this scammer will give you to call back.
This number has been spoofed. I don't even have United Health Care. So no, I will not give out my personal information. They have called me continuously for the last couple of weeks. I have finally sent them to block. This is a scam. Please be aware. I'm somewhat suspect of people on here saying that the number is real and giving out information as to how they were assisted through this number. I believe they probably work for the companies that spoofed this phone number. United Health Care doesn't have anything to do with someone calling people to update information.
