These people are the biggest lowlife [***] on the planet. They have been calling me for 5 yrs regarding a debt I never owed. I called the original creditor 5 yrs ago and they told me they had no record I owed them anything. Thank God for my Call Blocker that hangs up on them after one ring. I can not send them a cease and desist letter since they do not send me anything in the mail regarding the debt. If they ever send me something in writing, I am going to sue them for extreme harassment.
Yep! I've gotten calls from Portfolio Recovery for 3 years now. I called the Ohio Attorney General and they claim nothing can be done because these guys use different numbers and some "dead" numbers all the time. Also, I was told that if you answer it and hang up they still put you in a rotation for future calls so it's best not to answer any number you do not know.
The Blocker --tell me how you did it! I've been on the "Do not call list" since August of 2003 and I still can't get rid of these guys!. Just got a second call--this time it came up Portfolio Recovery!! Geez!
Don't know who you talked to at the Ohio AG's office, but that is completely wrong. They can do something, and because the numbers change doesn't have anything to do with the company. Portfolio is extremely easy to locate, as evidenced by the numerous lawsuits against them, the 82 million dollar judgement against them by the Kansas woman, the numerous fines by the FTC and State Attorney Generals. Either you didn't explain your problem correctly or you talked to someone who didn't have a clue. Now, here is what you need to do, since Portfolio has at least a thousand numbers, either spoofed or real.
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

I didn't answer and no message was left. Hung up when answering machine picked up. CID said Unavailable. I don't answer calls from names and numbers I don't know or call them back. Portfolio called us a few hours ago. No message was left. and I didn't answer when they called. Scam
