I got a call yesterday from my mother saying a Morgan James contacted my cousinsaying that I owed $3,000.00 for a debt. I was scared because she threatened me with a warrent for my arrest. The number my cousin got for a call back was 9054554300 it is out of Canada. I tried to call the number to find out what it was about and couldn't get thru, it being international and all. (I have a pre paid phone) My mother said while she was talking to my cousin a call came in, but she did not click over because my cousin was explaining that a warrent was being issued to the county in which I reside for me. My mother gave me the number that showed up on her phone. I called and spoke to a Morgan James she informed me I owed this debt and I had to pay it now to avoid getting a warrent. She seemed like she wanted to help me settle it out of court and with out goin to court. I informed her I was out of work. I got up this morning to a vm stating I Had 30 min. To make a payment or a warrent will be issued. I could only pay by credit debit or prepaid debit card. Would not give and address. I asked for address because i thought it was fraud. She got angry. Then i got a call from a Jason Whitman from NGI 9032856059 out of Tyler. I asked for a call back number so i could call the cops to find out if the company was fraudulent. He said he would call them on 3 way. He did so we spoke with sheriff's office they transfered us to dispatch, we spoke to them he got up set and yelled at the lady in dispatch because she said the only person that could issue a warrent was law enforcement. I had a friend call Morgan James to ask to speak to supervisor she hung up on him. He called back, she answered he asked he I ask to speak to supervisor and u hung up on me? She got ugly with him. We have tried to call her number back and the phone keeps hanging up. I dont want to go to jail but I font want to give away money I. Dont have. Can someone please help me with this matter. Is this fraud? Is there legal documents proving or disproving this?
Don't pay them anything. This is an absolute fraud and a scam. In the first place debt is a civil matter. Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. Secondly, only judges issues warrants. They are only issued to duly constituted officers of the law. They are only served in criminal cases and only served in hand by duly constituted officers of the law. This AFS and this "Morgan James" are basically debt scammers. Do not pay any attention to them. They are trying to scare you into paying them something. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD INFORMATION. DO NOT WIRE THEM ANY MONEY AT ALL. As I said, you can't go to jail for being in ordinary civil debt. These people are trying to scare you, that's all. This is a total scam. The NGI number 903-285-6059 is AFS. They use a variety of names and CIDs.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Yell at them , talk over them. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.
