IRS would notify you if it was an official communication. There'd be a long paper trail before any garnishment or levy took place. The IRS always tries to settle with taxpayer long before the issue comes up. You're being scammed.
I returned the call when I received it. They just picked up the phone and said hello. Not even a company name or a company recorded message. After I asked what company this is, they said Check Recovery....yeah, I wasn't buying that.
What the hell!!! mine was faxed last week on the 25th. When i called back I realized it was for my wife. all i was was a co-signer and they took 18% out of my last check and im not even married to her anymore. They recover bad checks which is a felony in my state. i paid it cause i dont want it on my record.
Dan, the same thing happen to me. But after i spoke to darren. He had it stopped after 2 payments. My payment plan is allot less than the 18% they were getting. its best just not ignore it and call them back. I really did not have a choice i feel on hard times. the receptionist is the one that tipped me off on how to take care of it.
Got the call again. A message was left. Did not even say who they were looking for. Just talked about some form and left the number to call back. If it was truly the IRS, they would not be calling my cell phone. They do not have it on record. They do have my home number. Besides, the IRS does not call. They send notices by u s mail. I know this for sure because I have been owing back taxes that I finally got paid off this year.
