I have received calls from Washington State (area code 306) along with the one from the above number in the past few days. Seems like all the scammers come from the west or midwest.
And remember, the "do not call list" does not include ALL unwanted numbers, including any numbers that are specified as "unknown" (unidentifiable caller ID), or organizations. This is the loophole that scammers use. And also know that these deceitful prying people can make their number "appear" as any number they want if they use certain methods, or simply change their number. So calling your telephone and "blocking" the number will only block that particular number for a certain amount of time, and the perpetrator will likely just get another one.
There is no real fix here yet until someone decides to take this SERIOUSLY for a change, and take some big time action on these pathetic lazy (and often foreign) thieves and send their butts to jail - or WORSE. Some people are just too lazy to make an honest and respectful living by other means...Go figure..
Just don't answer the call, and for sure, DON"T GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION if you do. They can already tell where they are calling "to".
just got a call from this #, but dint answer it since i don't know it. I have had my whole family plan and home phone on the DO NOT CALL LIST since it's inception. WTF gives?? i do seem to remember something about obama passing something allowing cell phone companies to release "our" numbers to third party companies. Although T-mobile continues to claim that they never have and never will sell our numbers. Glad i found this page.
I am in KY and received call from this number even though my cell and home phone are on the goverment "No Call" list. Answered the call, but they hung up.
