I received a call at 6:40 p.m. in Phoenix. My cell rang two times and when I picked up the caller hung up. I haven't received a call from this number in quite some time maybe a month or so. I too am on the DNC for federal and state but this group and some others from a different area code call every once in a while and every single call the party either hangs up or when I don't answer they never leave a message. My phone will only display a phone number so I have no idea who it may possibly be and judging from other people's responses I still don't know.
This number is an Oregon number--971 is the mobile phone overlay. I was push-polled by some total scum (undoubtedly related to the Romney campaign somehow) and promised a free two day cruise, which is, of course, utter hogwash. I waited while the robovoice told me how much fun I'd have cruising and "shopping" like a good American. But after the spiel, the line went silent, although didn't hang up, These pathetic wastes of protoplasm called me at 10:00 pm my time.
Push polling is so incredibly unethical--put it together with the obviously false promise of a "free cruise" and you know these people are crooks.,
