I got the exact same thing today. Interesting however, as we just bought two new computers from Best Buy in Salem. Any connection to your new computer purchases?
Just got a call telling me I have a virus. "GO TO YOUR COMPUTER......I will help you fix this" was her demands. The call came in under 310-599-9211. I could not understand this person. I caught maybe every third word after her rehearsed first lines. I asked for her boss and a male came on the phone and could not even answer my questions: 1) What company is this? 2)Why are you calling me? 3)Why do you think I have a virus? He just sat there......I had to ask if he was still on the phone. He did give me his name, but I could not understand what he said. He did give me his phone number, 971-217-9510. I told him I did not believe him and I was going to turn him into the State Attorney (which I am) and hung up. I got online and researched these numbers. The 310 number led me to this website. I loved the comment attached to the 310 number saying they asked for "Peggy". More power to us people that questions these scammers.
Just got the same call. I have 2 computers on 2 different OP systems. I asked which computer. They said the one on Windows 7. I said that's funny, I bought that computer last week and it is already full of viruses? They asked me to go to www.ammyy.com, to give them remote access. I got their number and called the retailer where I purchased my computer to inquire about this company, Microtech and gave them the number. They said sounds like a new scam.
