Just got a call from theis number 971 220 1894, she asked me by name, then asked if I was a US citizen, I said no, then she said the offer was only for US citizens, so if you don't want them to call, you could say that and they will not provide you with the offer. I also applied for a couple of jobs, so this is probably where they are getting their info from.
Applied for numerous jobs via dice.com and indeed.com and have been getting a call from this number every day since. I don't answer and they don't leave a message. I assume like the other posts who received calls from this number after applying for jobs that it must be a telemarketer. Very annoying when you are hoping it is a legitimate call about a job offer!!
I got this call from someone who indicated that I had indicated I was interested in continuing education of some kind, it was someone with an accent, and hard to understand. After I stupidly answered, I then noticed the area code was 971-who in the hell would call me from Oregon?? I only saw the rest of the number after the area code, which resembled my main library number when I ran to answer my cell. I had applied for a job with my library, and yes, I had looked up some info on continuing education, but anything I applied for, was located in my own city! If I had first noticed the 971 area code, I would not have answered. He said he had to ask me a few questions, the first one was, if I was an American citizen?? I laughed and said well no Canadian, after all did he not know that this was a Canadian number? He then said thank-you very much and hung up. Odd, but made me uncomfortable, as to how he got my number. I would never knowingly apply for any education info from a company soley located in the U.S.!
If it is for continuing education you would have had to fill out the form on the job posting sites that look like they are for job openings but are actually ads. Nobody is giving out the number - you are providing it. If you don't want the calls any more you do need to answer the calls and tell them to put you on the Do Not Call list. By law they need to honor your request. Keep in mind it can take up to 72 hours to stop receiving the calls, so after you request the DNC, just don't answer them until they do stop. If they don't after 72 hours, then you can file a complaint.
