Got a call from a Kevin Williams then transferred to Mark Holman. Told me congratulations for something that I couldn't understand. They said something about me purchasing something from Walmart or Walgreens but I asked for a number to call them back at and they gave me 971-259-3458. I told them I would have someone call them back since the it should up on my cell as a private number.
OK, it probably won't work from your business phone. But, from home phones (like from my home phone). . . . .Since they don't think I'm worth the time of a real person, what I like to do is feed them what that feed me....... automated voices, information..... from somebody/something other than a live person. When I answer and recognize a robo-caller, (which I'll admit is rather rare) I'll punch a bunch of #'s, 0's, and/or 1's. Then, I'll set the phone receiver near my radio (which is generally tuned to a Christian broadcast station; or, if my wife's set the radio, to something like Rush Limbaugh or another conservative talk-show host, and walk away. A couple minutes later, I'll come back and simply hang up the phone. Hopefully, since the caller's computer is too stupid to recognize that I'm not really here, it's also stupid enough to not hang up, because it 'heard a response from me'; and therefore, their computer will carry on a conversation, asking questions of my radio, getting and recording 'my' replies, using a couple minutes of their memory-space to 'build a lead to get back to me'...... I'd love to see the faces of the solicitors when they review these 'replies' from me!
The call came in at 8:40pm; I didn't answer. Caller ID shows GOODREADS. On callback, a recording stated something about marketing promotions but did not identify the business and also gave the instruction to press 1 to be taken off their calling list.
Got a call on my work phone. It was Jason from GE Home Security offering some service to "my area". Asked if I was a home owner. Told him I wasn't and that he had called a business number. He hung up before I could ask how he got the number.
I was called on my work direct dial, which I rarely give out.
Jason from Security Promotions called to discuss home security.
When I advised that this was my work line and I was a renter and not a home owner, he was immediately very apologetic, assured me my number would be removed from their list and wished me a good day.
