Caller ID said Rhododendron OR. No voice response when I answered. Totally agree with the poster who wished politicians would add this daily nuisance to their talking points.
It would be GREAT if 'just' purchasing a 'blocking phone' was the answer.
We have such a device, but the number of calls/different numbers EXCEEDS the capacity of it.
And isn't this somewhat playing into the GAMES of the CORPORATIONS who are BEHIND these calls and Call Centers overseas? They (Phone Companies, Credit Card Companies, National Retailers, Banks, etc.)
(1) SELL/Trade/GIVE our NUMBERS to these call centers
(2) Have the call centers 'annoy' us
(3) SELL us Call Blocking Phone & Devices, SERVICES (like Mr. Number) and "ID Theft" Services, ETC.
(4) BRIBE the Politicians and Government Officials to Look the other way
(5) Move our JOBS OVERSEAS so we have NO MONEY and NO POLITICAL CLOUT to fight it.
Pretty sweet deal, huh? For them.
And you're part of it by hawking the Corporate Line.
We got TONS of these calls LONG BEFORE the list was created. It actually WORKED for us for a while; all the so-called 'legit' IN COUNTRY telemarketers were CUT OFF when this first came out.
Then they moved all the call centers OVERSEAS to get around the law.
I believe its US CORPORATIONS and EVIL FILTHY RICH AMERICANS who are behind this - you know, the ones that want to 'cut taxes' for the UBER RICH and leave the rest of us scratching in the dirt for sustenance. You know The ONES HAVING THEIR POLITICAL CONVENTION RIGHT NOW IN TAMPA, FLA, while people in Louisiana are getting BLOWN AWAY by Hurricane Issac.
Keep voting Stupid people - for the Party of Lies - and this will continue.
This is all well and good for you - and perhaps many, but its not the solution for 'all.'
We run a business out of our home that involves people calling us, often on cell phones from all around the country, in order to obtain info about our business. We have a special ring to identify people calling for the business, but it part of the same line for our home phone. SO, we cannot 'block whole area codes'. Also, we have a child who travels extensively, and even though they have a cell phone, sometimes they need to call from pay phones or landlines where they are. Again, 'blocking whole area codes' or 'numbers we don't know' is NOT a Be-All solution.
Interestingly enough, MOST of the SPAM calls come in on our regular HOME number. THAT's the number that has been listed for 30+ years, is on ALL our accounts and we use for 'general purposes.' So that is the number that ALL THE CORPORATIONS have - and can (and DO, we believe) SELL, TRADE & EXCHANGE with every CALL CENTER and FILTHY RICH SCUMBAG behind these CORPORATE Schemes. In fact, these calls INCREASED literally MINUTES after (1) my husband got a new Cell phone carrier, and (2) after we purchased additional services from our MAJOR CORPORATE PHONE COMPANY. So, these people who are CAUSING these calls are the SAMES ONES that are SELLING the PRODUCTS and SERVICES to STOP these calls.
This is just another US CORPORATE SCAM. They've POLLUTED our ENVIRONMENT and now they are POLLUTING our Peace of Mind and the Sanctity of our Home.
I have a panasonic but i can't block "private, out of area or unknown". I have to enter a phone number in and when I get these calls, there isn't a number showing on my caller id....darn it..
