We too have been plagued by these annoying and harassing calls.  We have called Verizon several times and were given the run around.  Jason is a little nicer than myself so I decided to call Verizon and give them a piece of my mind.  I spoke to Dan who was somewhat helpful.  Then while he was on the phone with Jason, I called the number 972.372.1723.  It says it is a non-working On Star number.  However, it does tell you to call 1.877.805.9074.  I did that and spoke to Betty.  Betty told me that they are aware of this issue and she took the affected cell number and put it on a no-call list.  We were assured that no more calls will be received within 72 business hours.  I urge you all to do the same.  In addition, did anyone note the fact that the 972 number belongs to MCI Worldcom but if you google MCI Worldcom it goes to Verizon?  They have merged and are working together.  It's ironic that Verizon acts as if they can not help us when it is their number harassing us.  If the no-call On Star route does not work, look for another post from us.  Good luck!

I too have been receiving these phone calls for the past YEAR - or longer even. It goes in streaks. I've received these phone calls with the high pitched squealing and in the past the caller id has only identified it as an "unavailable number" so I haven't been able to pinpoint where it is coming from. Just this past week, however, I FINALLY received a call with a number attached to it and 972-372-1723 was the number. I'll receive these calls for a while and then they'll stop for a few months, then start up again. The phone calls come at all hours of the day and night. It is VERY annoying and inconvienent, especially at 1, 2, 3, 4 in the morning. I leave my phone on 24/7 in case someone needs to get ahold of me in an emergency, but unfortunately these worthless phone calls are what I have to deal with. If I don't answer, it leaves a voice mail every time. I would support this lawsuit 100% if it materializes. This whole situation is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of everyone's time and money.

After calling my cell phone provider, I was instructed to contact my local police department to track the phone number.  I am so glad that I am paying someone to not help me out . . . .

Hey folks!  After receiving more than 15 calls in the last week alone, I finally called the number ((972) 372-1723) and received a message from Onstar with a toll-free number ((877) 805-9074).  When I called the toll-free number the Onstar operator immediately knew what I was talking about and took my cell phone number to "be taken care of and put on the do-not-call list within 72 hours."  I don't know if this will actually stop the calls (I'll have to wait and see), but if you keep getting fax machine calls from this 972 number, I would recommend calling Onstar to complain.  Good luck!

My story sounds like most of yours.  I've been receiving calls from this same number or an "unknown number" back-to-back since before the holidays.  I assumed it would go aways, but as of this morning it has not.  I too called the number back on Jan. 23rd, and an OnStar representative took my phone number down and reassured me that the calls would "cease and desist" within 72 hours.  The woman was very apologetic, but I won't be happy until the calls do stop.  I'll post with an update.
