Claimed they were Tech Support and that we had a problem with our computer. This scam was identified on our local news in Toronto. They put you on a website, gain access to your machine, put on a virus and then charge you to get it off. Also other scam is that you give them remote access and they steal personal info from your machine. They also can put on keyloggers in order to access your on-line banking etc. They got frustrated and hung on when I kept asking them questions.
I received a call from this number at about 8:37 am today. Caller ID was "Payphone." I said "Hello" and nothing more. There was silence on the other end gor about 30 seconds, then a disconnect. Now they know this is a live number.
It seems like a whole lot of people think that it is a scam, and the guy that called sounded like he was from Bangladesh and talked with a mouth full of [***], He would not identify his company, just tech support, So that makes you a shill for a scam. BTW he could not identify which of my machines or what OS I was using; if you are not a scam then you are just [***] at what you do.
