This number called me but it came up as 1-212 on the caller ID. He said he was calling on behalf of Microsoft. I asked the name of the company and he said it was called "I-squared" in Dallas, Texas. I asked how he got my phone number--he said it was provided by Microsoft which seems very unlikely. After explaining that I didn't have a home computer, and that I worked for the government, he hung up.
Got the tax fraud warning today. We didn't answer the call but it came in from Dallas TX, and left a robo-voice message. Read about these scams in AARP magazine, and DUH, it has been widely publicized that if you really are in dutch with the IRS, there will be no doubt with whom you are dealing and it won't be some amateur sounding computerized voice message.
The nature and purpose of this call is regarding an enforcement action which is being executed by the US treasury department regarding a tax fraud against your name. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before magistrate judge for a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. So before this matter goes to the federal claims court house or before you get arrested. Kindly call us back our number as soon as possible. The number to reach us is 972-591-8183. Let me repeat the number it is 972-591-8183. Hope to hear from you soon before the charges are pressed against you.
