These idiots
They have been calling my family for about 3 years about my older brother.  For several years they have been saying my brother has a lawsuit against him, they give a fake reference number, and will get very upset if you question them. This Scam is so stupid.  If you are going to pose as a law firm and say that you are trying to serve a warrant then you wouldn't be calling about it a sheriff would simply serve the warrant.  FYI police officers don't serve warrants, sheriffs of that designated court serve them.  Also I find it funny how they say that they had a judge sitting next to them.  Like a judge is sitting with a person making $12 an hour employee that makes these phone calls.  I never pick up for them anymore but if they leave me a voicemail I will always call them back just to upset them and school them a little bit on what courts actually do.

HEY GUYS!!! If you actually wanted to serve a warrant and you have been wanting to for three years you would of found him by now.  If you can't then you suck at your job! .

Beware these scum bags.

I received a robo call from number 978-856-8289 and they tried to threaten me with some false legal claim like everyone else has experienced. I called them back and threatened to report them to the Consumer Financial Protection Board and followed through with my threat! Guess what? They disconnected their phone after a few hours of when I talked to them! Hahahaha!!! SCAMMERS!!! Don't ever fall for calls like these and NEVER give out your personal information!!

Hate to burst your bubble, but I am fairly certain they did not disconnect their phone, more likely they temporarily "took it out of service themselves". They'll most likely be up and running no later than tomorrow or the next day. I hope I am wrong, but I think not.

Warrants are only issued by judges in criminal cases.  They are only issued to duly constituted law enforcement agents on the basis of a proper application.  They are only served in hand by duly constituted officers of the law.  Debt collectors can't get warrants and have nothing to do with the criminal justice system  at all.   If you were the subject of a civil case, you'd  have alreadt received a letter form the attonrey for the other side.  There'd be a paper trail.  You would NOT have first heard about this from some scammery scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.  This is just a scam meant to scare money out of you.  Being oin ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  Ignore and block these calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

A summons in a civil court is usually served in hand by a process server authorized to serve process in your area.  But before that happened you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other side.  You'd have a paper trail.  You would NOT have first heard about a civil case from a scammery scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.   You can check this out yourself by simply going down to your local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list to see if your name is there.  The court clerks are familiar with these scams and usually are glad to help out.

Fraud is a crime.  If you were suspected of this sort of crime you'd have already by interviewed on a face-to-face basis by members of law enforcement.  No debt collector has anything to do with crime investigation or prosecution.  Period.  Again, they are trying to scare money out of you using legal mumbo-jumbo threats.  Ignore and block the calls.

As to garnishment, only a judge can issue a garnishment order and that only as part of a legal process where all parties are given a chance to state their case.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.
