This is a scammer!!!
I got my call the other day, & they even tried calling me back yesterday. A dude with an Eastern Indian accent, who claimed to be from Microsoft called me, & tried to tell me that they had gotten many error reports from my pc, & that they were calling to help me figure out what the problem was, & that I may even have a virus. Well...that would be easy to believe if I was naive, especially because I get error reports ALL the time, & my pc BARELY runs. Matter of fact...I don't know how it is running to tell ya the truth! It's worse than dial-up though, constantly freezes, & the IE windows will close on their own...just if I open another page if I don't do a lil' trick to stop it quickly. So yeah...I would have been a PERFECT candidate to fall for such bs if I didn't know any better! The dude kept wanting me to go to my pc, & was getting a lil' frustrated that I was asking questions, instead of going directly to my pc. I was in bed...so that wasn't happening anyhow~lol. I finally asked him if I could call him back when I got the chance to sit down, & go over everything~(at my pc) with him. He gave me a phone #, & told me that his name was Alex Wilsion (yes...he even spelled it!) I haven't investegated the number yet, & I'm going to report it, but wanted to get the info out there in case some of you have never heard of this scam before. Apparently, it's not a new one!
Idiot said she was calling from Microsoft because she had detetected and error blahblahblah. I laughed and told her I only own Apple computers and told her to go [***] herself. She had a thick accent and sounded desperate
Caller ID = "Mandeville LA." Did not leave a message. Charter only allows customers to block 12 numbers, like Comcast.
Strangely, I couldn't block this number! Charter said "number is incorrect." Have these scammers found a way around being blocked?
