Got the same call three days in a row. Same Card Member Services as Mel described. I pressed "1" to talk to someone with the intent of talking to someone to have my number removed from their calling list, as I have requested every time they have called in the past. When I got someone on the phone they asked if I was interested in lowering my credit card rates and I told them, "No, I want to speak to your supervisor." The person said "Ok, thank you" and hung up.
I get more of these kinds of calls on my phone than legitimate ones. Anything unfamiliar I refuse to answer (they virtually never leave a voice mail and if they do I log it); I look their #s up and when I find sites like this identifying their purpose, I save the # as "don't answer SCAM" or something similar, since my phone/service won't block. This way the phone I have announces by voice not to pick up on all that number's subsequent attempts, so I'm not too bothered. They can call till the cows come home; I'll never answer, because that just verifies that it's a working # with a sucker on the other end - then they spread (read: sell) that # around to more telemarketers - no thanks. I'm not on the DNC list because it has no power against people who don't respect it because it's not enforced, and there are other exceptions to DNC that folks overlook; it's not worth it - a useless false sense of security; I hope nobody pays for that cr@p "service". I wouldn't be surprised if the scammers obtained their call lists somehow from DNC....
Getting cell phone calls from this number. Ask you press ONE to talk to rep. then when you asl then to not call you and remove from call list they hank up.
Well it's looks like a lot of people are getting this number recently, it's got to be a scam. They called me too, but left no message on my answering machine, that's one way they get away of me not asking them for any information. Ask like some people did for a manager, you probably won't get past this point, if you do ask for their name, Co. name, where they are located their address city etc. record all phone call times including time, day, month, year etc. for your own records ( I have a ton of them for the last 3 years). Then if they do give you this info, which I doubt unless it's legit, check it out, but first ask them to call you back in a week so you can verify the info, they'll probably won't call back, if they do and are crooks, file a complaint with the "Do not call list", remember this is free and it's good for at least 5 years last I heard.
