Got the same call as Mike.
He kept asking if who was the main user and got mad and raise his voice when I told him it was a family computer.
I told him not to raise his voice at me and hung up.
Never got a chance to ask him to many question, since my guard went up as soon as he told me that he was from MS and was a Tech.
First red flag came when he only knew the initial of my first name.
Second flag came when I remember that the computer came from my neighbor and my name should not be attach!
Just received a call from this number. They said their name was Harry Wilson. He had an Asian accent and I had a hard time understanding him. He said he was calling from the AOC. I said who?? He said the ARC. I said Who? He said the ARrrrrrr Ceeeee. I said WHOOOOO???? he hung up... End of story....
Got the same call as Mike and Mark this morning. Talked with two people. Gave me the same descriptions of problems indicating hackers have been in my computer over the past weeks and Windows was calling to help me. Asked if my computer was on and I said yes. Asked for verification of who he was and he said he would give me his number to call back but first I could talk with a supervisor. He gave the same talk and then said for me to look at my keyboard and hit the windows key next to the control key and at the same time hit the letter R. I asked him what that would do and he said "F..K you, you b...tch!" and hung up on me.
Received two calls on consecutive days from this number. During second call my phone's battery died so I called the number back on another phone. I received the recorded message that this number had been disconnected. Obviously, some funny business going on here.
Got a heavily accented person who could not identify my full name (I asked Who are you calling for because I could not understand him.) He hung up finally
Got a call from the same number today. A woman with a heavy African accent. Asked for me by name. Said she was a Microsoft Tech and that my computer was infected and had a virus. I asked how she could know that and she started rambling on but I hung up in the middle of her spiel. Obviously a scam, beware, folks.
I only answered as it was a Seattle number, very close to Microsoft hqtrs.
