Same person called my mother. I work for the Sheriff's Office so she called me right away. Did they ask for any type of payment? If so, how? Did they give a badge #, because they can be verified with IRS: Call 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
Just left message 8:26 EST. Words included "fraud, tax evasion, we are forwarding letter to federal authorities, but call us first at James Anderson".
Steer clear of this scam
just had message left on my phone. came up as an unknown number not an area code like most state offices would. stated the same, tax fraud etc. Claimed to be "Officer James Anderson". Had a very forced voice as if trying to hide accent. Said was issuing arrest warrant from "clay courthouse". Thanks for the scam alert.
