Two calls this week with the same threatening message. Said "if I wanted information to call back before my arrest", now why would you call me again if I did not call back the first time James Anderson. I hate scammers. There was a report on the news about this scam, do not give them any information, not even your name.
The Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists tend to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. Despicable, but there it is. The Indian accent should be a dead give-away that there is some sort of scam going on . I notice that a lot of the contributors to this site are women.
I am an Enrolled Agent for the IRS (inactive). IRS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not threaten people with loss of custody of children. IRS does not threaten taxpayers, period. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. Warrants in federal cases are only issued by federal judges to individuals named in indictments. Indictments are only handed down by grand juries, after a grand jury proceeding.
