i received a call from this company today posing as "Bell Canada Promotional Department". I've seen their number several times on my phone. The east indian sounding man gave me quite an offer of a cell phone, rates, no system access fee..considering I am having a tough time with another cell company and interested in switching, I actually listened to the speel. I had questions, he put me on hold and came back with answers. In the end I said I was not interested and would switch to pay as you go as it best suits my family's needs. He called me back 3 minutes later to say "You don't DESERVE Bell services and should stick with *** provider". This prompted me to call Bell with the number. They said this number is a fraud and previously posed as a duct cleaning company.
Caller claimed to be from Bell but didn't know my last name or that I already had a Bell Cell Phone. When I told him I wasn't interested he got incredibly defensive and rude.
I called him back and he did not answer the phone saying "Bell" but instead just "How can I help you". I informed him he had just called and that I was aware it was a scam and the police had been notified. He hung up.
I also called Bell to alert them to the situation.
Got a call from this number that I was a winner of $2500 among other 15 "luck winners". An address with post code L4L 8S5 was giving for me to go there for the prize. Just realized that it is a scam and do not know how this Jack guy got my personal information.
You do not have to give your sin number to anyone for any reason ever.... please learn from this cuz if they really have your SIN then they're probably gonna use it.....
