Just received same phone call from "Happy Software" in Brooklyn. Asked for his address, wouldn't give it to me. Asked for his phone #, wouldn't give it to me. Asked to speak to his supervisor, said he couldn't do that. Then he told me to have a nice day.
This is a scam. They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!), find fictitious errors, viruses, etc. on your PC that they now want $$$ to fix. Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware that can steal your info including online bank logins in addition to ripping off your $$$. This is a scam.
I just received that phone call and I told Mr. Max William from Consult Pc Expert who also said that he is working together with Microsoft Office. I told him I have to call him back as I am not on my computer right now. I checked with my computer specialist who told me that this is a scam. So I called the Federal Trade commission STC 877-382-4357 and maid a report. They told me to also make a report on the Attorney General Office in NC 877-566-7226 that this is a fraud and that they can put out a warning to the public. IT IS A INTERNET SCAME!!!
I recd a call today from a man stating that they wanted to help me with the errors, he wanted to take over my computer and help me with these errors. This is a scam I called Microsoft and they said they would never do this....
My wife received the same general message from "Ralph," also w/accent...sounds like same guy. Claimed to be working for Microsoft. He did not get far enough to do any damage but she was upset by his scare tactics.
